Virtual Fall Meeting 2020
Education & Engineering SeminarThursday, October 22, 2020
9:30 am - 1:00 pm EDT
Dear Members,
Due to Covid – 19 travel restrictions and the subsequent cancelation of the physical Fall Meeting at Barnsley Resort, the Officers and Directors of The Coal Institute have decided to provide a Virtual Fall Meeting to keep our membership engaged. The Fall Meeting is The Coal Institute's Education and Engineering Seminar, and the proceeds from the meeting provide valuable funding for the education funding/scholarships, which remain a central part of our core mission.
This year's Virtual Fall Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 9:30 am EDT. We have gathered industry experts to discuss the Power Generation Market outlook, the looming presidential and legislative elections and its impact on coal, and the Metallurgical Coal Market outlook. Conference attendees will be able to participate in a Q&A session after each speaker. The schedule of events will be as follows:
AGENDA
9:30 Welcome & Business Meeting
9:50 Thermal Coal Panel
Caryl Pfeiffer, LG&E-KU
Claston Sunanon , Orlando Utilities Commission
John Wagner , NIPSCO
10:50 Commentary on Presidential Election and Key Congressional Races

Bill Boyle , Independent Consultant
Nick Cron , XCoal Energy and Resources
Mike Hardesty , SunCoke Energy
12:20 Goodwyn Holmes Award & Installation of 2020-2021 Officers and Directors
The registration fee for the conference will only be $50 per member and $100 per non-member. Registration is open and available on our website by clicking HERE.
To help cover the cost of the virtual conference, we are looking for corporate sponsors at various levels. Once the conference costs are covered, all sponsorship fees will also be donated directly to the Coal Institute's Scholarship and Education Fund. In addition, all sponsorships in memory of B.T. Prince, who founded the engineering and educations efforts of The Coal Institute, will be applied 100% to the Scholarship and Education Fund. Sponsorship opportunities are available as part of the registration process and are described by clicking HERE.

2020 Summer Trade Seminar has been changed to The first STS Virtual Conference
The Officers and Directors of The Coal Institute have been working diligently to come up with a plan to keep our membership engaged and to also continue to provide funding for the education scholarships that remain a part of our core mission. As The Coal Institute is a non-profit organization, we rely on revenue from the annual Summer Trade Seminar to help provide funds for our scholarship program.
We are pleased to offer the first ever Coal Institute virtual conference to be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 9:30 am EDT. During the conference you will hear from coal producers, utility buyers and other market experts. Presentation topics will include COVID-19 impacts on the coal and power generation markets, natural gas forecasts and an early look at the November elections. Conference attendees will be able to participate in a Q&A session after each speaker. See the schedule of events below:
The registration fee for the conference will only be $25 per person. All proceeds from registration fees will go directly to the Coal Institute's scholarship and education fund. Registration is open and available by clicking HERE or the online registration link at the bottom of this page. Registered attendees will be automatically entered into a drawing for giveaways at the conclusion of the conference.
To help cover the cost of the virtual conference, we are looking for corporate sponsors at various levels.
